Its 2 for 1 Monday on Battle of the covers! :)
I am sick BUT my meds seem to be doing ok, I have eaten, not tired yet, and I feel like posting something fun after the schmoltzy one I already posted today...haha! :)
So....please remember da rules: Listen to all the songs...Let us know what you think....Play nice with the other kids...There are no right or wrong answers as music is subjective.....Have fun and enjoy! :)
Today's second selection is Hooked on a Feeling written by Mark James in 1969.
BJ Thomas was the first to perform this song in 1969 and it went to #5, that year, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Jonathan King recorded his version of the song in 1971, adding in some ooga chacka jungle sounds with a reggae rhythm. His version was a top 30 hit in Europe.
Blue Swede, a Swedish pop group, did their version of the song in 1974. This version has the familiar ooga chacka introduction that most of us familiarize with this song. This version went to number 1 in the USA. It was revived in 1992 by being on the soundtrack for the movie Reservoir Dogs.
David Hasselhoff (aka The Hoff...lol! ) did a cover of the song in 1997. ( ....enough said....haha!)
Vonda Shepherd did a cover of the song in 2003 for the Ally McBeal soundtrack.

No, the Ooga Chukkas must rule. No others may live.

Heh-- this was a great post- I LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUV that song!!!
To me, the original is best. His version is earnest (which I feel is needed for the song. Hoff puts his own brand of cheese on it), and there are no lame ooga chakas (the Blue Swede version is ruined by that, I think). Vonda's is pretty good, too.
